Blossom season of the Yamahaze (Japanese wax tree)
Nagakute, Aichi, Japan
Dimensions: 116.5cm X 72.5cm
Location: Imabari-city Ohmishima Museum of Art
From the spring to summer, the Yamahaze shows incredible growth. It has the typical anacardiaceous smell, and by getting close to it you fear that you might be poisoned. But in autumn, it shows beautiful autumn leaves, and matured seeds that are used as a raw material in candles. The Yamahaze’s transformation is remarkable.
