When I was an assistant professor at Aichi University of the Arts, I often used to pick plants around the university as the subject of my paintings. But I gradually shifted my focus towards landscapes and whenever I found spare time, I used to drive around Aichi prefecture to make sketches. This is a painting of a typical agricultural village in waterfront of Nagaragawa River. Greenhouses are something that had not been commonly drawn in Japanese paintings, however to express the modern Japan, I decided to include them.
