1992 Remembering India - Mist.jpg

The Taj Mahal, located in Agra in Northern India, is said to be one of the most beautiful mausoleums in the world and it is on the World Heritage List. My very first trip to India was in December 1982 to January 1983. I accompanied Mr. and Mrs. Hirayama Ikuo’s trip to India. The day I went to Taj Mahal to make sketches for this painting was a misty day, so the painting has a hazy appearance. I went back that evening, but it was still covered with mist, but the moon's light was in the sky that night, so with the moon light, the Taj Mahal was glowing blue. There is a sad love story of a prince and a princess at the Taj Mahal. I made two paintings of Taj Mahal, afternoon and evening, with the love story in mind, and this is the afternoon version.
