When I visited Taima-dera temple in Nara to make sketches, I was walking on a narrow path in the cedar forest behind the temple and I suddenly saw a light coming through the dark forest and the surrounding scene instantly changed. I quickly opened my sketch book, but instead of making sketches, I spent more time staring at that phenomenon. Soon, the light disappeared and the scene was back to the regular dark forest. But by that time, I had already completed a painting.
