1998 Dock.jpg

It was an unplanned trip without worrying too much about maps, my wife and I were traveling around Izu peninsula and we accidentally arrived at Inatori port. It was my first time seeing a fishing port that close, and I remember being very impressed by the number of fishing boats docked at the port. I decided to paint the crowded fishing boats, so I started making sketches of them. But since it was my first time drawing fishing boats, I got destructed by the details of the boats, such as antennas, radars and sails. All I could manage was 2 or 3 boats, and it was far from being able to get the atmosphere of the fishing port. There were several different kinds of fishing boats. I went back home and looked at my sketches of the boats, and while figuring out how to paint them, I tried to paint a set of three sketches continuously and this is the finished painting of that composition.
